(Edited to add - Remember friends, I'm a very sarcastic person. I am not a racist.)
A conversation with a friend tonight...
Steve: I don't understand why you're not voting for Obama. You're from the neighborhood, you went to *inner-city public high school* for fuckssake. You should identify with where he's coming from.
Epi: And...
Steve: its because he's black, right?
Epi: Yeah, Steve, it's because he's black.
Steve: I don't understand why some think he's going to suck as president just because he's black. You surprise me.
Epi: Screw you Steve, it has nothing to do with him being black. And I don't understand why people think that he's due to be president JUST BECAUSE HE'S BLACK. I don't care what color he is. I don't understand why people can't just research each candidate, and figure out who they identify more with?
Epi: Why does race have to play into it? Why can't people just THINK FOR THEMSELVES????
Steve: you're pissed off at me now?
Epi: no Steve I'm not pissed... I'm frustrated. The truth is I don't give a fuck who you vote for. Just make it an educated decision.
*snip*
I'm very interested in politics and have been for an obsene amount of time considering my age. This conversation just pissed me off.
I'm just frustrated.
Like I said. I don't care who you vote for, and that's the honest to God truth. Ya'll know where I stand.
Just make it an educated decision.
Do your research. And by research I don't mean watching the national news.
Frustration.

You so hit the nail on the head! I agree with you, I don't care who you vote for as long as you can tell me why you are voting for them. It seems like a great deal of people are voting for Obama because they think they should. But when you ask them, they can't tell you why, or even anything about him! And the media helps to create this problem! JS
I totally agree that the American population GENERALLY speaking would rather vote based on news reporter's biased views or (even worse) the commercials they see, assuming that the content is 100% reality.
The presidential race should not be based on race, sex, or any other demographic data. It should simply be based on a person's EDUCATED belief about who should be running this country.
I absolutely despise politics, primarily for this reason. I have my own political views, too. But this country would be much improved if the populace chose leaders based on their own research.
:o) Definitely a difficult subject! (but an interesting conversation)
Although we have differring political views I totally agree with what you are saying.
Research is golden.
Some people like to think. Some people like to be told what to think.
Neither candidate would have been my first choice. The choices come down to this for me and many others:
Who will do the least amount of harm to our country?
I had a similar conversation with an acquaintance.
Him: "You know, he's half black and half white. Is it the black part you don't like or the white part?"
Me: "It's not the black or the white, it's the red."
