When you head out to the park on a gorgeous fall day, with the sole mission of taking pictures of the kids and the vibrant colors...
Check to see what film speed you've set your camera to. Particularly if you were recently taking pictures in darker conditions.
I've been using a camera for two thirds of my life. I know better. Always check the ISO. It is not cool to take over a hundred pictures in broad daylight with the ISO set to 1600.
I see myself spending some quality time with Photoshop and Camera Raw tonight.
Just a little bit of advice...

Don't you just hate it when you have a colossal brain fart like that? I did that once this fall. Last spring I was playing with camera settings and set my camera to shoot without a memory card while I was playing with some settings I then set out to take some photos around the city and successfully clicked the shutter and saw the image preview for every image I shot only to arrive home to find that what I thought would be a really great shot turned out to be nothing at all.
I thank God that I can't set my camera to do that.
Because I'd probably do it once a month without fail.

I feel your pain
When I do that, I think ISO is short for "I So Stupid"...
