Inspired by Greybeard...

I was over at Greybeard's blog, Pitchpull, when I read about his wonderful wife washing his calendar on accident.

It brought back some old memories. I've done something FAR worse. And I did it twice.

Years ago I moved to Colorado Springs.

For a certain boy. A Cadet at the Air Force Academy at the time. What can I say, I was 19, he was 21, and we were in love. This Cadet would spend the weekends with me, on occasion bringing some laundry.

Epi, being the good girlfriend she was, would do his laundry for him. Underwear, socks, PT Uniforms, Flightsuits...

One day while throwing his laundry in the washer a shirt of mine slipped in. Accidentally.

A red shirt. A new red shirt that had not been washed yet.

Yeah, you can probably see where this is going.

*pause for dramatic effect*

Picture me, opening that washer and pulling out his Flightsuit... His once olive drab flightsuit....

Now pinkish-olive.

I remember it like it was yesterday. I let out a string of expletives that would make even the most seasoned sailor blush. When the Cadet came sprinting into the laundry room to see what was going on the first thing he saw was me, standing there, holding his pink flight suit, bawling my eyes out.

He did something that shocked me. He took me into his arms and hugged me. He told me it was okay and he could get it replaced.

The second time I did it, about a month later, he reacted in almost the same way.

"You know, I should be doing my own laundry anyway."

Ha! I didn't have quite the same reaction when the Lieutenant put my lamb's wool sweater in the dryer. I just stood there and cried. Then wrapped it up for my neice. :(

Waitaminute!
What are you suggesting here?
Me... do my own laundry?!!

Funny thing-
I'd be delighted if I could.
My hyperactive/dyslexic/short-term memory deficient wife would continue to grab whatever clothing needs washing and I'd get the same result.

What I HAVE learned...
Take the damned datebook out of my pocket anytime I take off the clothing.
Problem resolved.

And to resolve the problem in your post...
a pink/olive flightsuit?
What are the female pilots wearing? ;>)

First of all, I would never wear a pink flightsuit. That would just be wrong :)

Second,I wasn't saying you should do your own laundry, not at all... I was just saying he decided to not trust me with his uniforms anymore after that second incident :)

Can't really blame him!

The last woman to do my laundry gave me life. I can't imagine anyone else doing it for me.

Or cook, for that matter. Mama G. raised an independent son...

awwww....the worst I ever did to my husband with the laundry was to absolutly kill his down pillows when he drooled on it, and I thought I would be helpful and wash it. Except I dont think it was made for the washing machine. He still talks about it to this day!!! :)

Whats worse than finding out the colors of the clothes you've washed have "changed"? Is to discover that your 5-11 BDU's took a cell phone hostage and destroyed it...... Lesson learned for me check my darn pockets twice... Thank goodness for Cell Phone Insurance.

Oh, have I ever done that! My husband wears 5.11 bdu's the the sheriffs dept and leaves crap in EVERY possible pocket, and I have missed a pen before.....oops

I've got the 5.11 BDU pants... I've washed more pens than I care to admit.

I lose more good drug pens that way...
